if you can't stand the heat, don't work for an oil company. We had a real fire at the Rijswijk campus. Apparently a few welders accidentically set fire to the insulation material used in the wing that's being renovated. The weird thing is, quite a few people including myself smelled burning plastic since the early morning. The fire didn't officially break out until much later, about 11:45am or so. There was a lot of smoke and the smell was terrible. On top of that it was about 28C outside and fairly humid. My scalp got somewhat burned waiting to be able to get in. After 2 hours I decided to go home and work from there. Apparently everyone was allowed back in at about 2:30pm. I guess they wanted to make sure there were no toxic fumes in the building.
