Shoelaces & Bubblegum
Seems like my brother made a typo when he gave me his blog URL yesterday. That would explain the error when you clicked on the link. However, the real URL is http://merijn2004.blogspot.com. Apologies for the inconvenience.
I am working from home again tomorrow. That's the third time this week, actually. I've been asked to write a whole bunch of documentation about the product we've been working to create for the past year. That's going to be a lot of work. I prefer to work from home when doing that kind of stuff, fewer people and things to distract you, you know. I am not saying my wife is not distraction-worthy, of course :) On Monday I have to do documentation for the other project I have been working on. I don't think I'll be doing much engineering for the next month or so. Documenting is always difficult to get started on. You never really know where to begin. You have in your head all the things you should be talking about, yet when it comes to the time to actually put pen to paper, so to speak, I find myself struggling to get my thoughts out. I am sure I can't be the only one who suffers from this. It's like you have writer's constipation. What I need is the author's equivalent of exlax.
We have great facilities for working from home or anywhere with a Citrix client. I can get a well configured desktop, performance is more than adequate and you have access to all your files and the Intranet. Basically everything you get logging on to a PC at work. I've used it via crappy 56K modem lines and it's still very good. My manager is totally cool with me working from home as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's work. Most things I do are remote management and tweaking of systems that people are running tests on. We're in the final stages of testing the applications on our Linux distribution. Sometimes an application tester needs something changed slightly to make their app run properly, that rarely requires me being at the actual keyboard.
Man, I love The Discovery Channel. Tonight is crime night. First up is Forensic Detectives, followed by two episodes of The FBI Files. This channel is almost always on in the evenings, except on Tuesday, because that's when Tammy's programs are on. This would be The O.C. and Everwood. I am not that big a fan of The O.C., but she really loves it. I like Everwood, I don't watch it as faithfully as Tammy does, but it's enjoyable none the less.
