Visit to the mortgager
[Listening to: baby's got a temper - new Prodigy - (4:23)]
No babies with a temper outside in the school yard across from our flat this morning. The man from the Postbank told us that apparently there had been a bit of a riot regarding the noise "pollution" from the school for mentally and physically handicapped children. Sometimes they wheel the kids out into the yard right across from our building where they spend their entire day screaming at God knows what. A lot of people in the neighbourhood were complaining about it. It was all over the local newspapers and TV station, which Tammy and I read and watch religiously, of course. Umm, yeah. The reason we were talking to the man from the Postbank was to inquire about a mortgage for the apartment we're renting now. This is not the first time we're paying this guy a visit, the last time was in March. Things are now really taking shape though, we're a lot more serious about investing into this apartment. We'll end up paying less than we are now per month, after the fiscal blahblah, so that's good. The best thing is that we're going to make a bit of money when we sell it later. Also the "rent" we'll pay is not going to change over the next 7 years. The owner of the apartment is sending us a quote for the place which we have the fullest intention to reduce since this place is not without its faults and we'll be damned if we'll pay the full amount. We won't be by ourselves when it comes to the negotiations though, we'll get some help from someone we can't mention because he'd get into trouble with his boss. We're hoping we can get it for about €93,000 to 94,000, that would be a nice price. Guess we'll have to see about that, though.
This morning I also tried to get in touch with the IND, the INS equivalent. It's been more than 6 months since we heard from them regarding Tammy's residency permit renewal. I don't foresee any problems, but I'd like to know what's going on. By law they have 6 months to decide and that time is up now. We're also going to have to buy a new passport for her sometime soon, the one she has now has expired. Papers are expensive, bah. Why can't they just take our word for it?
