Home alone III

As Sir Reflog was so good as to point out in his post to my blog, there are no bugs in PyQLogger, merely "reduced feature functionality", which is very different from a proper bug. It's nice to finally have something that I enjoy working on since the results benefit me instantly. Sounds a little selfish, I know, but most programs are written to satisfy a programming itch of some kind and a good blogging client was somehing that kept me from switching to Linux on a more permanent basis. Now that I have found one and have the ability to actually enhance it to make it even better and more usable, there is no reason left for me to boot into Windows anymore.
Tammy is getting a hair cut this afternoon, so I'll go pick her up from school and we'll go there together. Not before we've popped into the new Subway in the city center. I think this weekend we'll put up the Christmas tree; I'll have to move my desk to accommodate it in that corner, but that's OK.
I finally managed to make my LinkSys wifi card working under Linux using the Linxant Driverloader, a nifty piece of software that will allow you to load the Windows XP NDIS5 drivers under Linux. This is necessary because the specifications of most WiFi cards are only available under NDA which renders it impossible to write Open Source drivers for them. Oh well, the Driverloader is only about $20 or so. It's super easy to configure and works amost instantly. The trickiest part was getting WPA to work. I had to change the order in which some of my services were started to make it work. but that was no more than 10 minutes work and a few reboots.
