Monday morning...

It's Monday morning again, that dreaded beginning of the week when you know that you have 5 days of hard work ahead of you. Needless to say, today is not going to be an easy day for me, I think. My arms and legs still hurt from the work we did in the house. I lugged countless stacks of planks, rubbish bags and other assorted items down 3 flights of stairs Saturday and Sunday. Who needs a stair master when you can redecorate?
This morning whilst reading my two morning papers, Spits and Metro, I came across a few funny articles.

Loud music can lead to collapsed lung
apparently loud music such as techno and heavy metal can lead to damage to the lungs, possibly leading to a collapsed lung. One in five collapsed lung patients aged between 15 and 25 were previously subjected to high decibels at concerts. I am still waiting for the results of the study that point out that exposure to R 'n B and pop music will lead to brain aneurysms.

Chinese government to deal with lip syncing
Seems that the Chinese government wants to put an end to the wide spread practice of lip syncing. An important advisory committee is investigating a possible law that is the result of a campaign of Chinese rocker Cui Jian. He's trying to convince his fans to boycott lip syncing artists. If we can pass a law that prohibits politicians from lying as well, the world would be almost perfect.

Malaysia's immigration issues
Now that the Malaysian government has expelled several tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, the building industry has been suffering from a severe shortage of cheap labour. Politicians are so wise...

Kidnapping appears to be kinky sex game
Around 20 cops came into action (no pun intended) when they got a report of a woman who was being kidnapped by three men. Witnesses had seen the woman in a van with her hands tied behind her back and a hand in front of her mouth. After a lengthy search the three suspects were found and arrested. It was all for naught though when it became clear that this was nothing more than a little sex game. Better notify the neighbours next time!

Puppet show with prostitutes cancelled
Imagine the disappointed faces of all those children when they found out the scheduled puppet show featuring the prostitutes of the Keileweg (very sleazy red light area in Rotterdam) had been cancelled. The show was supposed to educate the children about the drug addicted ladies of the night and to rally the neighbourhood against the proposed shelter for these women in the area. A catchy title for the play would've been "Little Red Riding Hood". Oh wait...
